Patricia Piccinini
This is Piccinini's recent drawing called Hector. It is drawn by using graphite on paper. She might be started drafting using lead pencil then rendering by using graphite. The used of cotton is also applied in the rendering process to make a soft shadow on the surface of the skin also on the hair of the creature. Furthermore, she also consider the use of profile line and different thickness of the shadow to create different type of skin. In this drawing, the whole shape of the weird creature present the idea of imitating the basic figure of human body.
Sidney Nolan

His painting might be oil painting on a straw board. He might be using brush because the stroke is really strong in the drawing. He might started by drawing the background and just drafting the Ned kelly figure. Most of the colours he used are green, yellow and blue. Green and yellow show the colours of Australian outback, while blue is mostly for the sky. After the background is done, then the Ned Kelly's figure is painted in black. The yellow colour that show the reflection of the sunlight might be the thick oil, since it is used on the top of black. The different tones of colour used in the background and horse creates the feeling of seeing the real picture. It is very contrast when seeing the Ned Kelly figure, which is more flat and a bit caricature outlook. Moreover, the flatness is really strong when you looking at the background of the eyes.
