Final concept

From the first stage of my idea, I changed the position of the stairs which then affect the circulation in the room. The next bit is creating the grid for the windows.

After building the working model and further consultation with Shaowen, I realised that to emphasis the overhanging room, I do not need to put the glazing wall. So I take off the glazing wall and create a solid wall with windows running along the wall. Thus it leaves the lower level opened that create a courtyard. It also create a more interesting shape rather than just a box.

Finalised concept: The box studio consists of 2 rooms and a courtyard. Each rooms has a different quality of light, due to the enclosure of the rooms. And also inspired by the architectonic of the drawings, each rooms has a different height levels.

The old man arriving at the courtyard, will be guide by the reflection of light from the first level rooms to move around the box studio. Once inside the dark room, at the ground level, he will notice the bridge that will lead him to the upper level. The design of the interior staircase mimic the pattern of the window. By going through the interior staircase, the man enters the darkroom and then coming out to the exterior staircase, enjoying the big image of the surrounding. After arriving at the level 1, he goes in again through the dark room and arrive at another room with windows running along the wall. The windows, created as a strip cut through a wall, are not only as the source of light but also act as a frame for the surrounding views.
